Jhansi Rani is an honest police officer and her husband is an honest man who works in a factory. Mahendranath and Kailashnath are two wicked men. Jhansi Rani's brother Ravi loves Mahendranath's daughter, which he doesn't like. Chandra Shekhar is killed by these two wicked people and they play a cat and mouse game with Jhansi. The latter has to resign and now Ravi cries out revenge against them. Will he succeed? Will the cry for justice be heard?

Thakur Ranjit Singh buys the enslaved Kajal's freedom and gives her the status of a daughter-in-law... much to the disgust of his uncle, Jasbir. When the sleazy Shakal turns up and arranges a secret meeting with Kajal, Ranjit believes that he has caught his beloved being unfaithful. He exacts a fearful retribution. Obligingly, Jasbir destroys the evidence. Ranjit finds himself being plagued by the restless spirit of Kajal as well as a suspicious policeman. Seeking respite in Bombay, he is stunned to see Kajal's doppelganger, a nurse called Kiran. Unnerved, he brings Kiran home with him and finds himself falling in love again. The mystery deepens when Kajal's vengeful spirit murders the usurper, sending Ranjit over the edge and into an asylum.

Suraj Prakash is accused by a young woman named Sheela for allegedly sexually molesting her on the pretext of offering her a job overseas. He not only denies this, but accuses Sheela of making him deaf and mute. His lawyer, Kanoonilal, successfully convinces the Judge that Sheela is lying, and as a result gets a verdict in his client`s favor. But not for long, as Suraj is arrested for allegedly killing his wife, Sita. Kanoonilal proves to the Court that Sita committed suicide after Suraj caught her having an affair with his client, resulting in Suraj getting a not guilty verdict. Shortly thereafter, Suraj again is arrested by the Police, this time for allegedly killing his very own niece, Pinky, the daughter of Sadhana and Police Inspector Santosh Verma. Kanoonilal uses Santosh`s testimony to get his client off again. After this verdict, a shattered and devastated Sadhana swears to kill Suraj, S.I. Ajay Singh, and Kanoonilal - only to find herself in confrontation with her husband.

The story is based in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, a place which is largely male dominated and women lead very sheltered and withdrawn lives. Pratigya-who lives here is a educated young girl who believes in standing up for what is right and is courageous enough to carry this through. A local goon( though from a well to do family), Krishna falls in love with her and is obsessive in his attempts to marry her. They do get married, but fall in love much later. This is the story of their family life thereafter.
